Every year at the holidays, three things happen:
I spend HOURS reading through gift guides, looking for open spots and niches where I can pitch my clients for placement.
I spend HOURS researching the perfect gifts for everyone on my list, entering them all into a nice spreadsheet and ensuring everyone’s gift load is balanced and full of bounty.
When my husband asks me what I want for Christmas for myself … I have absolutely no idea.
Moms spend so much time worrying about the rest of the family around the holidays that sometimes, they don’t know what to request on their own behalf. So, hopefully, these guides will give you an idea or two. Feel free to just forward the whole dang thing to anyone buying you gifts for easy clickability.
Today, we focus on the mom who is vowing to work on self care … two curated gift ideas.
Idea 1: build her a nightly bath box.

It’s a common puzzle for moms to try to “fit in” time for themselves, particularly in the thick of craziness brought on by weeknight dinners, sports practices and homework. One of the best things I ever did for myself was build (well, I guess technically Dan did the actual building) an oasis in my master bathroom for myself where I can relax for 30 minutes each night in a soothing bubble bath. BONUS: word on the street is that taking a hot bath a couple of hours before bedtime can really improve your sleep! Here are some ideas for a bath time basket gift:
–L’OCCITANE Lavender Bubble Bath: because the smell alone will carry all your troubles away on a breeze and leave you perfectly primed for sleep.
–Midnight Superbloom Crush Bath Soak: this aromatic super bomb amps up the scents from the bubble bath and they combine for perfect aromatic harmony.
–“The Martini” Emotional Detox Bath Soak: “The Martini” is apparently a name for the last take of the day on movie sets (go figure, Goop/Gwen Paltrow), but the Himalayan Salt combined with frankincense (pure magic – if you’ve ever been into essential oils, you KNOW) and a zillion other things. Add to the above ingredients or alternate for those really buzzy days.
–Snooze Bomb: This flowery bath bomb leaves your skin feeling unbelievably soft and smelling irresistible – a huge bonus on top of relaxing “me time.”
–Vagus Nerve Bath Oil: If you’ve entered the rabbit hole of stress relief advice (podcasts, Pinterest, etc.), you’ve heard about how crucial the Vagus Nerve is. This is one of my favorite bath add ins when my muscles are sore from a tough workout. Instantly soothes my nerves and tension.
–Dr. Teal’s Bubble Baths: An extremely economic alternative to the above L’OCCITANE option. This is an “everyday” bubble bath that still smells great and provides ample bubbles.
–Brooklinen Waffle Robe: After bathtime is through, you need something cozy to step into. I don’t even mind when it’s time to get out, because this robe is that warm and comfortable. I’ve had one for years (shoutout to my husband for the great Christmas gift!) and it still looks and feels as plush and lovely as the day I got it.
Idea 2: give her the gift of endless snuggles.
I cannot get enough blankets, pillows and throws in my life, so I’m guessing that goes for others out there as well. If this is you, here are some gifts to indulge that tendency.

–The Bearaby Cotton Napper Weighted Knit Blanket: I have a weighted blanket, but this one is a major upgrade. I’ve asked for it three holiday seasons in a row. Fingers crossed that 2024 is my year!

–A fleecy throw with dangerous kitty vibes: Love this one from Target (and it’s under $20!).

–Puffy Throw Blanket: Seriously comfy vibes here.
–The snuggliest body pillow: I have one of these on my couch and one in my bed. There, I said it.
Of course, these two gift ideas can be mixed and matched, a la : a nightly self care box gift with a gift or two from each section. Go crazy and stay comfy, my friends.
