We have a very strict rule in our house: NO Christmas (decor, music, treats) until AFTER Thanksgiving. We always spend the whole Friday after Thanksgiving turning our house into Christmasland. The boys work outside while my daughter and I handle everything indoors. You can check out a few of my fave holiday highlights from this year’s decor below:

(My daughter always handles the bar cart – she does such a great job! It looks different every year – and every holiday.)

Someone made us this wreath!

The same person also made us THIS wreath!

We’ve lived in our house for almost ten years, so we have a pretty decent collection of decorations, but every year, I find a little something lacking in our inventory and take advantage of Black Friday/Cyber Monday steals to fill in the gaps. (We have big plans to redo our whole kitchen, which at this point is essentially untouched by Christmas, but once the “new kitchen” is done, I will absolutely be going to town and the decoration shopping spree will be a full-blown sprint.) My favorite go-to’s for holiday decoration shopping are:

-Costco (not online, you have to go in person and it’s totally luck of the draw what you might find)

-Hobby Lobby (ditto on the above)

Michael’s Online

Wayfair

Target

World Market

I had two major missions this year in my decor hunt: 1 – fill some gaps in both my tree AND the kids’ tree up in the playroom (theirs much more so than mine!) and 2 – make the front door entryway a little more festive. Here’s what I grabbed:

Large shatterproof ornaments from Michael’s to fill in big gaps in the tree!

Even LARGER shatterproof ornaments from Michael’s to fill in bigger gaps in the tree.

Christmas tree picks in various shapes, sizes and colors to … you know. Fill in gaps. I also read and learned on TikTok, etc, that I could use ribbon to help with this task, so I got some of that as well.

For my entrance I snagged some beautiful, prelit garland for our stairway banister, but it was such a good deal, that it’s sold out. The one below from Michael’s is similar.

We usually add one or two ornaments to our collection each year and this time around, I couldn’t resist these pieces of whimsy from World Market:

Linked here.

And here.

Even though I didn’t really need too much more “tabletop decor” – I grabbed a couple of things for our record player shelf, because it looked a little sparse.

I love the vintage-y look of this pink Christmas Tree mug and would much rather look at it than drink out of it.

I also grabbed a couple of these Christmas Tree candles for the shelf top forest. Scent AND decor all for the price of one!

In the category of things I drooled over but restrained myself on (because I already have way too many), were this wreath and throw pillow.

As you can see, I don’t really follow a theme or cohesive color strategy. Sometimes I think I’d like to, but then I see so many items that wouldn’t fit in that I love and I’d rather just have decorations that I adore looking at. So, eclectic assortment it is! I’d love to know more about your decorating tips, styles and go-to’s – share!

We’re Sarah and Molly

Sarah and Molly were bloggers many moons ago – back in the earlier 2000’s when blogging was all the rage and we spent the first 30 minutes of every work day (in the office we shared together) AIM’ing links back and forth to each other to catch up on all the tea. We launched The PR Edit in 2024. Less & More is the newest chapter in our blogging journey, focused on motherhood musings, shopping secrets, life lessons, and our usual chit chat.
