Leslie Knope wants us to celebrate our besties and, by George, we’re going to do it…

Anyone else have a pipe dream of throwing a lavish Galentine’s Day dinner ever since you watched Leslie Knope celebrate her favorite uteruses before duderuses? Every year I think this will be the year I throw some fun red and pink bash for a handful of gals with heart shaped straws, fancy drinks, and on-theme bites. Then I remember that January is usually a really busy work month and by February I forget about the whole idea but…maybe someday! In the meantime, I’ve focused on less fancy and equally super fun celebrations with gals I love.

Super busy? On a budget? Just looking for a new idea for your monthly girls night? Here are some quick ideas to celebrate your support system this Galentine’s Day or just a random, fun day with your pals.

A Sleepless Sleepover

One of my fave ways to celebrate friendship or decompress is a sleepless sleepover – all the makings of a sleepover with PJs, snacks, movies, games, and chatter but then everyone goes home and sleeps in their own bed. A couple of years ago I arranged one of these for my book club and it was SO fun. I decorated my living room and everyone wore pajamas, brought snacks (hence why my table is only half full in the photo), we played games, put rom-coms on in the background, and I made little goody bundles for everyone to take home (I wrapped a scrunchie around a pink heart-shaped glasses and a cute animal sheet mask – so cute!). We still talk about how much fun it was and it was the perfect lowkey hang.

Surprise Gift Boxes

It is so hard to coordinate grown up schedules and because of that I’ve become the biggest fan of a ding-dong-ditch gift box. Celebrate your bestie by pulling together a themed giftbox of her favorite things or just go full Galentine’s with scrunchies, nail polish, some sweet self care, sheet masks, these heart-shaped sunglasses that are a staple in my wardrobe year-round but are even more fun during the season of l-o-v-e, and a little card.

Some of my favorite humans and I did a belated holiday celebration recently and we each made a themed box. I went for Peaches n’ Cream and filled the box with all the sweet, delish things. A great surprise gift, too! Want to dupe? I got a big gift box and included loose leaf peach tea, Philosophy Fresh Cream body wash, a Colourpop peach eyeshadow palette, bath bombs, Laniege peach balm, peach preserves, a cream colored and a peach colored Essie nail polish, peach sorbet sugar scrub, sheet masks, a giant candle, a couple of peach Frescas, and the coziest cream blanket.

Dressy Dinner

You don’t need to go somewhere fancy to get real fancy – you are the special occasion! – so even the most low-key town can offer an opportunity to do Dressy Dinner. A close friend and I used to do this every few months. You just go full glam – do your makeup, curl your hair, and wear something that makes you feel so dang beautiful and then go to dinner wherever you want. Wearing tulle at TGIFridays? It’s fine. You only live once.

I have an obsession with Valentine’s/Galentine’s clothing and if you are looking to take me out just let me know what day and time because I love this dress, that dress, these hoops, those shoes, and the most bonkers jacket.

Easy Errands

Running errands with friends as a celebration? Listen, we have to do what we have to do to spend quality time and celebrations can be as big or small as you want! Around birthdays in the past when it’s been nearly impossible to get time on the calendar, I’ve suggested running errands. Let’s get our nails done and then we can catch up while I grocery shop with you. Get a really delicious coffee and gab it up.

I love to celebrate everything and will attend the opening of an envelope so if you need party ideas, themed snacks, and anything else let’s connect on Pinterest and you can see my fave pink and heart-shaped product picks on ShopMy. Are you planning any Galentine’s (or Valentine’s!) celebrations?

Will you be our Galentine? We would love it if you subscribed or shared our newsletter with someone who might enjoy our work and recommendations.

We’re Sarah and Molly

Sarah and Molly were bloggers many moons ago – back in the earlier 2000’s when blogging was all the rage and we spent the first 30 minutes of every work day (in the office we shared together) AIM’ing links back and forth to each other to catch up on all the tea. We launched The PR Edit in 2024. Less & More is the newest chapter in our blogging journey, focused on motherhood musings, shopping secrets, life lessons, and our usual chit chat.

We are so happy to have you on our corner of the Internet.
