BRB we’re shopping…

February is Black History Month and it’s a great time to share some of our favorite Black-owned and Black-founded businesses that we heart supporting during February and every other month. A quick list of some of our top apps, bites, beauty, and more below!

Deep Condition: Briogeo Hair Care is one of my FAVORITE haircare brands and has a solution for nearly every hair type (my curls love their curl defining conditioner). From the boilerplate, “Launched in 2013 by entrepreneur Nancy Twine, Briogeo has become one of the fastest-growing haircare brands in the world and one of the largest, independent Black-owned brands in the US. Briogeo continues to experience momentous year-over-year sales growth with a brand mission to inspire, educate, celebrate diversity, and empower every person’s healthy hair journey.” A friend suggested the brand to me five-ever ago and I have been loyal since. Want more? The episode of How I Built This on NPR with Briogeo’s founder Nancy Twine is a great listen.

Track your pages: The StoryGraph is my new favorite app and a great alternative to Goodreads. You can track books, find recommendations, connect with other readers, and enter giveaways for free books. If you don’t want all your tracked books behind, you can upload your Goodreads data to the ‘Graph directly. Want more? This HuffPost piece is a good primer on the company.

Take a Bite: My family LOVES Pipcorn Heirloom Snacks (Cheddar Crunchies for liiiife). From the boilerplate, “Pipcorn is a better-for-you, salty snack brand made with heirloom corn, offering Mini Popcorn, Cheese Balls, Twists, Crunchies, and Corn Dippers with simple, real ingredients that are whole grain, gluten-free, and Non-GMO Project Verified. Pipcorn was founded in 2012 by Jeff Martin, his sister Jen Martin and his wife, Teresa Tsou and became a Shark Tank success story when backed by Barbara Corcoran in 2015.” Want more? This older Forbes story details how hearing “no” helped the Pipcorn team work toward major success.

Get Glam: Beauty Bakerie Cosmetics win all the cute packaging awards and I LOVE their products. From the website, “Dubbed ‘Activists in Makeup’, Beauty Bakerie lives and gives at the intersection of beauty, culture and change, committed to making the world a sweeter place. From clean, quality products, to inspiring community to championing underserved causes, Beauty Bakerie leads with humanity and joy.” Their EyesCream Bundle makes such a cute gift, too. Want more? This Fashionista piece details 2024’s BB acquisition and how the brand is keeping hold of its indie roots.

Sweeten Up: I want it on record that if you want a gluten free cookie there is NO better choice than Partake Foods. Crunchy and delicious, we keep the mini packs in our pantry at almost all times (literally, I add a pack to every Thrive order). From the website, “ Partake exists to offer a selection of delicious, allergy-friendly foods that those with and without food restrictions can enjoy and share with confidence. All offerings are certified gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan and are free of the top 9 allergens (wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, soy, fish, sesame and shellfish).” Want more? This iHeart interview with CEO and founder Denise Woodad talks about how she started the company inspired by her own daughter’s food allergies.

We’re Sarah and Molly

Sarah and Molly were bloggers many moons ago – back in the earlier 2000’s when blogging was all the rage and we spent the first 30 minutes of every work day (in the office we shared together) AIM’ing links back and forth to each other to catch up on all the tea. We launched The PR Edit in 2024. Less & More is the newest chapter in our blogging journey, focused on motherhood musings, shopping secrets, life lessons, and our usual chit chat.

We are so happy to have you on our corner of the Internet.
