Here’s what the brains behind The PR Edit are currently eating, doing, thinking, and more…
Welcome to Currently- a monthly feature on The PR Edit! A throwback to old school blogging, Currently posts were some of our favorite ways to see what our fave blogger girls were wearing, listening to, and more. Now it is a fun way to share a quick snapshot of what is going on right at this absolute minute for both Molly and Sarah.
So Molly is currently…
….eating whatever we can grab on our way out the door. Maycember is REAL, y’all. We have band concerts/rehearsals, the start of every day swim team practice, field day, field trips, book fair, birthday parties, AHHHHHH! Luckily, I did snag this really cute portable cooler from Target to take our dinners to swim team practice every night.
…making beans in the Instant Pot. Like every two or three days. My whole family has hopped on the fiber train and we are in a major bean phase (gotta try that dense bean salad trend!). This leads to me making HUGE batches of chick peas, black eyed peas, black beans, kidney beans, navy beans, you name it in our Instant Pot in constant rotation. Not sure why I even bother ever putting that thing away!
…listening to podcasts about time management and systems and organizing your life. Can you tell I’m REALLY prepping to keep it together for summer time?
…reading alllllllll the books that finally came through on my library queue. We had an “outage” for the whole month of April while they re-vamped our “behind the scenes” tech so right at the start of May, I took the kids to the library and picked up about 20 books that were backed up in my stack.
…watching Mobland on Paramount+ – it started out with so many characters (and all speaking in accents with weird mob lingo), that we weren’t hooked from the start, but we gave it a bit of a chance and now we’re into it. Tom Hardy is the literal best.
…loving watching the kiddos flourish in the pool. This is Linus’ first year on the swim team, and he was a bit nervous about being “behind” but honestly he’s taken to it like a fish. They swim for an hour each day, Monday-Thursday, which is a LOT, but it gives them SO many reps and they have both gotten tons better just in the past couple of weeks. Absolutely LOVE their coaches also – amazing experience for our family.
…looking forward to school ACTUALLY being over. Like I said, the activities we’ve been cramming into the last month here have been total mayhem, so I can’t say I’m not looking forward to slightly slower days where the kids don’t have to be anywhere until swim team at 5pm. Maybe I’ll finally get some laundry done?
And Sarah is currently…
….eating so. Much. watermelon. One of my favorite things about the warmer months is the availability of the best, most delish watermelon and for the next three months my family and I will usually go through at least two per week. SO GOOD.
…making all the summer plans. My kids and I are working on our annual summer bucket list (last year’s below!) and looking for all the fun things to do near us and while I juggle work and life. I’ve created our visual rhythm for the week days (more on that later maybe) and printed out our summer reading challenge papers. Much to my children’s chagrin I’ve also set up their summer learning workbooks and updated our chore chart with seasonal tasks. Fun!
…listening to the Handsome Podcast. A more recent pod discovery for me, Handsome makes me laugh out loud sometimes (especially when Tig Notaro yelps, “Fortune Marie!” at least once an episode and the pod inspired me to watch both very old seasons of One Mississippi in about a week. I just like to listen to funny people yap!
…reading so many things. With summer break nearly here for my kids (already!), it is both harder and easier to find time to read and with what feels like 800 baseball tournaments happening for my oldest, a library book is never not in my bag. Right his second I’m diving into Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield.
…watching Sporked taste test videos. Sometimes I just want to know if that frozen pizza at Aldi is any good and sometimes I just want to laugh and listen to fun people talk about chips. I don’t know why.
…loving waking up early! I am a lifelong night owl but forced to be a morning dove. Whether I’m getting up early to knock work out before taking my kids to enjoy their summer day or getting some steps in before life starts lifeing, I wake up early normally but do so begrudgingly. For whatever reason lately I’ve been getting up without issue around 5am and how nice it is to just start my day without being grumpy about it!
…looking forward to pool days! Every summer I spring for a pool pass to our community pool and it has the highest ROI of any investment in my life. We will hit the pool two to six times a week and just lounge. May has been a SPRINT with nonstop things going on and ooooh, I can already feel the plasticky seat under my tush and the book in my hand.
