Welcome to The PR Edit’s Page Turners, a monthly feature featuring all books we read the previous month and what we are stacking our TBR with for the weeks ahead. As two bookworms we believe reading is not a competition and there’s no wrong way to be a reader. We are constantly adding to our TBR stack and leafing through books from a bunch of genres. So if you’re looking for your next read or listen? Here’s what we’re currently diving into…
Sarah’s Pages
-Number of Books Read in May: 12
-Favorite Book from the Month: I read some good ones! But as a mom of a tween and a soon-to-be tween The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt was so eye-opening. I keep suggestion it to mom friends with kids around my kids’ ages. A teacher at my boys’ school read this book in summer of 2024 and it inspired her to start an after school, screen-free club to help kids play and connect. Win!
-One that was Underwhelming: Freidatok will come for me but it was hands down The Tenant by Freida McFadden. I liked her books years ago but I think our relationship has run its course (and that’s ok!). If you have read this please feel free to email me with better names for a pet goldfish than Goldie because I have a list, y’all.
-What’s on My June TBR: I have been reading through all of Faith Gardner’s books so I have a few of hers on my list, including Violet is Nowhere and They are the Hunters. Her books are quick reads that are perfect for me to sit by the pool and turn pages for hours! Except when they make me cry like The Second Life of Ava Rivers did.
-Where to Keep Up with My Book Stack: I track my reads with The StoryGraph and have running library wishlists on ShopMy and Pinterest.
Molly’s Pages
-Number of Books Read in May: 5
-Favorite Book from the Month: I really liked most of the books I read in May, so it’s hard to choose a favorite, but I THINK the most enjoyable one for me was All the Beautiful Lies, by Peter Swanson. It was a twisty thriller, but it didn’t feel formulaic or predictable. I enjoyed getting to know the characters at different parts of their lives and then putting the whole puzzle together at the end. It moved quickly and would make a great beach read!
-One that was Underwhelming: I ended up liking it, but the earlier parts of The Tenant by Freida McFadden were mildly … irritating. I absolutely abhorred the main character, Blake, but maybe you’re supposed to?
-What’s on My June TBR: I just got a SLEW of books from the library, including Funny Story, Emily Henry and Iron Flame, Rebecca Yarros. We have one more month of two hour nightly swim team practices left, so maybe I’ll get through both (even though the latter is LONG!).
-Where to Keep Up with My Book Stack: I pin ideas from Pinterest and track my progress toward my 100 books for 2025 on GoodReads.
We are both always looking to stack our TBRs so tell us, what are you reading this month?
