I have a secret to share. Appetizers are frequently my absolute favorite part of dinner. I love how easy and carefree they are, snick snacking while everyone chats away and the hosts finish cooking. Though, let’s be honest, perhaps I love them because they come out first and thus, I eat them when I am at my hungriest, so they taste better. But whatever the reason, I love them! And I’ve passed this onto my kids – both of them clamor to be a part of designing and executing appetizers whenever they are an option, which they are, at EVERY holiday meal.

For Easter specifically, I’m looking for a few things. First, does it feature an Easter-centric ingredient? Namely: eggs. Second, do we have an Easter connection vis a vis the shape? Eggs, Bunnies, Chicks, Baskets, etc. There are many options to go with here. Lastly, do we have a seasonal connection in the ingredients? Spring veggies, fruits, etc.?

My favorite is when you can find an appetizer recipe that can be made ahead of time or even partially made ahead of time. The less you have to do on the actual holiday, the better, usually.

Here are a few Easter appetizer recipes we’re eyeing this year to possibly try. Pin this for later and let me know if you try any of the recipes!

Egg-centric Easter Appetizers

Celebrate the hero of Easter – eggs! Since we have 15 chickens now, we’re in no short supply of these versatile appetizer staples. Here are a few ideas:

Deviled Egg Chicks (Natasha’s Kitchen):

My daughter has been obsessed with making Deviled Eggs lately, and these little guys put just about the cutest spin on a classic I’ve ever seen. We may need to try our hand at these this year.

Of course, if you’re going to go the route of Deviled Eggs, this colorful version from Catholic Icing is also the perfect way to bring a pop of color to your celebration. I’m also highly impressed with this pull-apart rendition from Food Network that looks like a carrot! These look more time-intensive, but who could resist a BLT version of Deviled eggs, via Vintage Kitchen Notes.

Mini Egg Salad Sliders (Real House Moms):

If Deviled Eggs are a bit too much work, consider featuring eggs in these cute lil sliders instead. Bonus, you don’t have to peel the shells from the eggs perfectly because it all gets mashed up anyway! (That’s the toughest part about Deviled Eggs for me!)

CHEESY Easter Appetizers

Easter Bunny Spinach Dip (It’s Always Autumn):

It might be a little too cute to eat, but how about turning a “regular old” spinach dip into a bunny-fied version for an extra punch of festivity?

Tater Tot Cups (The Feathered Nester):

Even though there is nothing specifically EASTER-y about these, they just look delicious, don’t they? Potatoes are a weakness of mine and tots are one of the best ways to enjoy them, IMO.

Easter Egg Cheese Ball (Fab Everyday):

Who doesn’t love bacon and cheese mixed together atop a cracker? Make it into the shape of an Easter Egg and it’s the perfect appetizer for the holiday.

BTW, if you love a cheeseball (and who doesn’t?), you can also try this little version shaped like a chick from xoxoBella.

Ham and Cheese Sliders (Lil’ Luna):

Personally, I am not a huge ham fan. But I do know that most people are AND that it’s frequently utilized in Easter celebrations. If you aren’t having it for the main event, you could incorporate it into the appetizer course.

A Taste of Spring

Prosciutto Rose Appetizer (She Keeps a Lovely Home):

What’s more spring-like than flowers? We love prosciutto in our house, so this is a great option, if we can make the meat origami happen.

Tulip Tomatoes (A Few Shortcuts):

Another take on flowers, using tomatoes and cheese. What a heavenly combination.

Ladybug Bites (Bite Sized Bash):

These are so colorful and remind us of another fun spring element – bugs!

 Sweet Pea Crostini (Simple Seasonal):

These bright green beauties perfectly showcase the best of spring vegetables in honor of the Easter season.

Veggies Galore

Easter Bunny Snack Board (The Baker Mama):

Take a regular veggie plate, but make it Easter! Love this excuse to eat radishes too, btw.

Here’s another take on the bunny veggie board from Kitchen Counter Chronicle – so many options to choose from!

Mini 7 Layer Salad Cups (from Jennifer’s Kitchen):

This salad definitely reminds me of Easters past, so why not miniaturize it and put it in single serve cups as an appetizer? LOVE this idea.

Stuffed Mini Bell Pepper Carrots (Reluctant Entertainer):

These feature an ingredient we usually include in our appetizer veggie tray anyway – peppers! In case you aren’t on the pepper obsession train, these little guys have more vitamin C than pretty much any other food! Plus, they are crunchy and delicious.

Carrot Hummus (Slimming Violet)

This takes another frequent staple of our appetizer repertoire and Easterizes it. I’ve never tried carrot hummus before, but it seems festive and tasty.

Easter Shapes as Appetizers

Easter Bunny Charcuterie Board (Haute and Healthy Living):

Our go to appetizer for any occasion is usually a charcuterie board, so why not make it fit the occasion perfectly? This bunny brings it all together on one platter.

Here’s another bunny charcuterie board option if you prefer the foods that are stuffed onto this festive tray from Kimspired DIY. This one is egg shaped from Berries and Honey KC.

Carrot Shaped Veggie Pizzas (Crayons + Cravings):

My parents made a similar version of this for our New Year’s Eve party this year (we always do tons of appetizers for this), and it was a big hit. May have to reinvent for the Easter Bunny!

Desserts as Appetizers

Carrot Cake Dip (Princess Pinky Girl):

Since this one is sweet instead of savory, you might opt to save it until after dinner, but who doesn’t love an easy, casual dessert you can just munch on whenever you finally recover from how full dinner made you?

Peeps S’mores Dip (Homemade Interest)

One more in the dessert category that features the candy of the holiday – Peeps! I don’t like these, but again, I know many folks that do, and it does make a pretty cute and colorful dish.

So, what do you think? Which of these are you going to try? Let me know if you’ve ever made any of them in the comments and HOPPY Easter!
