Open your eardrums and cue up your Spotify app, we have the gift of (listening to people) gab…

At The PR Edit we are podcast junkies. There’s something so soothing, educational, funny, and fun about listening to someone chat and share their world view at the press of a button. This 2023 story from Audio Audit notes how podcasts are a unique medium as listeners develop parasocial relationships with the hosts and listening can increase mental wellbeing. Whether we are listening to podcasts with our kids, before bed, while working out, or while working here are some of our favorites right now.

Comedy Podcasts

Sarah’s Pick: Camp Counselors

Description: My fave ever! If you have scrolled TikTok in the last three years you probably have seen something involving Zachariah Porter. He and Jonathan Carson host this super funny, camp-themed variety show with segments like Take a Hike and Camper Crush of the Week. I truly believe this podcast is my comfort object and if you like gabbing, you’ll like it. I listen to it every week with my oldest and we even met Zachariah back in November (he was unbelievably kind and wonderful).

Episodes to Start With:

  • The Cruise: Banana Daquiri Factory: The story about the open air bus/Roy and ziplining with Liliana Marie make me laugh out loud even though I’ve listened to this episode at least five times.

  • Ethan and the Big Apple: Are you Nicole Kidman me? A super funny gabfest episode with a little Halloween twist because it is always Halloween in my heart.

  • Bonus: Back from Tour and Ready for More: Soooo…my kid and I get a shoutout around the 18:48 mark and, honestly, it proves that Zachariah and Jonathan are just truly nice, good people.

Sarah’s Pick: The Basement Yard

Description: Two lifelong best friends hanging out and talking about nothing…this is one of my faves. Kind of like a modern, podcasty Seinfeld. Joey and Frankie forever.

Episodes to Start With:

  • The Saddest Songs in the World: They correctly rank “wife, daughter, mom,” talk seeing sea snakes in a transparent kayak, and share songs that make them cry (I love sad songs).

  • The Drunk Scorpion Bowl (Patreon): Listen. I need the team to open this episode up to the general public because they make Scorpion Bowls and it is one of their funniest, nonsense episode.

Sarah’s Pick: I Never Liked You

Description: I promise not every podcast I listen to is a couple of folks talking about random things but also, yeah, kind of. Matteo Lane is one of my fave comedians and this pod he hosts with his friend Nick Smith is perfect for when you need something light, chatty, and funny while you do chores or drive. I love when they bicker. Like, truly love it.

Episodes to Start With:

  • Lindsay Lohan: I just love LiLo and happily listen to the hosts chit chat about her comeback and their thoughts on it. It’s life changing, y’all.

  • Honey, Death, and SpaghettiOs: The best part of the pod is you don’t have to catch up on the entire catalogue before you listen to newer eps and this is a super funny one to start with.

Motivational Podcasts

Molly’s Pick: The Mel Robbins Podcast

Description: Mel is like the day to day bestie everyone wishes they had. Her show covers a wide variety of topics, but the ones that resonate with me most feature experts talking about under-publicized research and discussing how it can be applied to people’s everyday lives.

Episodes to Start With:

Molly’s Pick: The School of Greatness

Description: Lewis Howes is all by himself a great inspiration whose advice I find compelling and relevant, but he chooses great guests as well to cover things from sleep deprivation to setting life goals (and achieving them!). The underlying theme threading all the episodes together is mindset growth and tenacity, which he embodies with an impressive library of books he’s authored (I have two of them on my list for 2025!).

Episodes to Start With:

Molly’s Pick: The Marie Forleo Podcast

Description: This one is a bit newer for me, having discovered it in the second half of 2024 when I was looking for new shows to refresh my feed. I enjoy some of her shorter episodes for bouts of cleaning or when I need something quick to kill time at carpool. I like her interviewing style and chuckle at her self-ascribed alter ego “Jersey Marie” – she’s tough, but fair!

Molly’s Episodes to Start With:

Health Podcasts

Sarah’s Pick: Magic Mindset with Heather Maio

Description: This podcast and its host, Heather Maio, changed my life and my approach to health and fitness. Seriously. It’s like listening to your super smart, no BS bestie talk about being your highest self without the judgement and restriction.

Episodes to Start With:

Molly’s Pick: The Dr. Gabrielle Lyon Show

Description:

I’ve been listening to this one for two full years and I never get tired of her or her guests. She seems to have folks on that aren’t “overexposed” on the healthy living podcast circuit (one reason why I took a bit of a break from podcasts in 2024 – it felt like everyone was interviewing the same people to promote the same books/podcasts and it was a bit redundant). She is a badass mom with amazing credentials.

Episodes to Start With:

  • The Science of Losing Fat and Keeping Muscle: The holy grail everyone wants but few can figure out. She and her guest do talk about all the expected advice (eat more protein!), but they also talk about the lesser known tactics and a hierarchy of importance for enacting them.

  • Debunking Common Fitness Misconceptions: This episode is sort of in the spirit of Dr. Lyons’ whole personality. Question, doubt and turn popular advice on its head.

Molly’s Pick: Mind Pump: Raw Fitness Truth

Description:

Though this podcast could easily be dismissed as “bro fitness,” I’ve found a lot of gems in listening to Sal Di Stefano, Adam Schafer & Justin Andrews hash it out. They have a lot of real world experience from their time in gyms and their own competitive journeys. They cover a lot of the same topics frequently, so I wouldn’t say that I listen to every episode, but the repetition and consistency also makes it easy to retain the information and apply it to life.

Episodes to Start With:

Molly’s Pick: The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast

Description: Though Lauryn is a little bit too woo woo even for me (a crunchy gal), I enjoy the breadth of topics they cover and relate to it even more now that she and Michael are parents. I love hearing about her morning routines and the products she is using most.

Episodes to Start With:

  • How to Create a Fitness Plan for Life: This episode features the personal trainer that Lauryn and Michael use. It’s entertaining to hear about how Lauryn went from fitness newbie to strength training goddess, but there are tons of great tips along the way as well.

  • 10 Self Care Habits to Upgrade Your Life: Lauryn gets into the details about her routines and the products she loves most.

Financial Podcasts

Molly’s Pick: The Rachel Cruze Show Podcast

Description: One of my 2025 resolutions was to learn more about money-related topics: investing and taxes at the top of the list. This show covers a lot of fundamentals in these realms but also reminds me about some of the simplest, most effective money rules I need to follow (ie: you should NEVER go into/stay in debt!).

Episodes to Start With:

Parenting, Relationship, & Mental Health Podcasts

Molly’s Pick: Good Inside with Dr. Becky

Description:I first discovered Dr. Becky through her Instagram reels, and was delighted to find she offered “more” through her longer form podcast. She addresses a wide variety of parenting issues for kids of all ages and has extremely practical advice about how to handle it all.

Episodes to Start With:

  • How to Not Raise an @$$h0le: Learn the ins and outs of ensuring your kid doesn’t turn out to be an entitled jerk. Feel free to share with other parents so we can all live in a better world when this generation comes of age.

  • Your Value and Worth Live Inside You: Covers some tricky issues related to your kiddo’s friends. Hits home for this mom of an almost “tween.”

Sarah’s Pick: Raising Good Humans

Description: I found Dr. Aliza on Instagram and I love her blend of science-backed research and a gratitude-centric parenting approach. I read her book and then immediately started listening to the pod. It has really helped form my parenting style in the most positive way. As the show has grown Dr. Aliza has brought in celebrity guests and experts to most episodes, too.

Episodes to Start With:

  • 10 Ways to Prevent Entitlement and Cultivate Gratitude: I always worry that in an era of “everything on demand, Prime shipping” my kids will expect instant gratification. This ep gives great tips for flipping entitlement on its head and creating grateful, empowered kids.

  • Redefining Boy Culture…: Raising curious, kind boy humans is a big focus for me and I love to foster that “why? How? What?” attitude in my boys. This leverages insight NYU’s Dr. Niobe Way to offer insight on boyhood and creating connection.

Sarah’s Pick: Terrible, Thanks for Asking

Description: To be transparent, as a girl of many feelings, I am a Nora McInerny fan girl for life. I love her books, follow her on every social, and will listen in to all iterations of any podcasts she starts. TTFA is an honest look at how real people are feeling, even the “bad” and tough feelings. It is validating and offers such a sense of connection in the human experience in a raw way. The pod is no longer producing new episodes but listening to the back catalogue is so worth it. We heart Nora.

Episodes to Start With:

  • The Final Quince: A look into real trauma recovery and parenting by healing your inner child, oof this one hit me in my feels (as most TTFA episodes do).

  • Overthinking About You: A real look at life with OCD and destigmatizing mental health diagnoses. This episode really made me think.

Sarah’s Pick: Happy Wife Happy Life

Description: Kendahl Landreth and Jordan Myrick are two very unqualified but deeply in love comedians (their words) who talk relationships, love, and all other coupley things. I love this one because they have such great banter and often feature interesting gifts (like their very funny roommate!).

Episodes to Start With:

  • Our Roommate Spills Our Secrets: Aforementioned episode with Charles. They all have such great friendship chemistry! This is a fun listen for sure.

  • The Expert’s Guide to Spotting Red Flags: For whatever reason, I love hearing people’s red flags. I just love to spill a little tea! I think Jordan and Kendahl are very honest about who they are, flaws and all, and its refreshing that they are accepting of their own red flags.

Business Life Podcasts

Molly’s Pick: The Goal Digger Podcast

Description: Jenna Kutcher covers many entrepreneurial and marketing-focused topics in her episodes. She’s inspired me, led to some of my best ideas and introduced me to some of my favorite work tools. She sees opportunities for everyone and everything and some of my favorite episodes are listening to her brainstorm with folks about ways they could expand their businesses.

Episodes to Start With:

  • Creating a Sustainable Future Without Trading Time for Money: As referenced above, Jenna’s conversation with a doula about all the ways she could expand her business and stop trading time for money spurred TONS of thoughts about my own work. Very inspirational.

  • How to Write Pitches that Get Noticed – Every Time: This conversation between Jenna and Michelle is fascinating and this PR gal picked up a few great tips for work. I’d love the chance to chat with the Michelle about why she’s wrong in saying that she doesn’t need a PR person/firm, but that’s a blog post for another day.

Molly’s Pick: The Martell Method w/ Dan Martell

Description: I originally found Dan on YouTube, but found myself clicking on a lot of his videos and figured I’d just subscribe to the podcast on Spotify. He has an amazing story in his own life – from rehab to millionaire. He repeats himself a lot, but I don’t mind, because it’s all stuff I need emblazoned on my brain!

Episodes to Start With:

Pop Culture Podcasts

Sarah’s Pick: Bitch Sesh

Description: This may be a little niche but I love a Real Housewives download and I LOVE Casey Wilson. Friends Casey and Danielle talk Bravo shows, Real Housewives news, and more. I love people who don’t take themselves too seriously and these gals definitely don’t (their new pod home is literally called Garbage World).

Episodes to Start With:

  • The Shah Shocker: An explosive boot on the ground, indeed. If you watch RHOSLC then you already know what this one is about.

  • The Daddy Diaries with Andy Cohen: I think Andy Cohen is a generally interesting (and funny!) human and hearing Danielle and Casey talk to their favorite person makes me smile so much.

Sarah’s Pick: You’re Wrong About

Description: Host Sarah Marshall is a journalist obsessed with the past and every week she reconsiders a person or event that has been miscast in the public imagination. These episodes are so enlightening and interesting!

Episodes to Start With:

  • Influencers with Taylor Lorenz: A look at the past and predictions on the future when it comes to the internet and, more specifically, influencers.

  • Satanic Panic: One of the first episodes I listened to, this is a dive into the Satanic panic that ruled the 1980s. So interesting!

Podcasts for the Kiddos

Molly AND Sarah’s Pick: Greeking Out

Description: Greek mythology seem like a bulky topic for kiddos? Look no further. National Geographics’ incredibly popular podcast is SO much fun and informative.

Sarah’s Episode to Start With:

  • I think any episode is a great one. This is one of those podcasts that I love as much (if not more) than my kids). I say a great start is Of Eros and Psyche Pt 1 & 2…mostly because my grandpa’s name is Eros so my kids thought this was the coolest episode ever.

Molly’s Episode to Start With:

  • Honestly, I recommend starting at the beginning! My kids love following along in chronological order and we have gotten through quite a few seasons this way.

Sarah’s Pick: Story Pirates

Description: Songs, sketches, and overall goofballery my kids love Story Pirates! It’s a fun, quick, kid-centric pod that is good for almost all ages. Grown ups may love some of the special guest appearances from big names like Julie Andrews and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Episodes to Start With:

  • Any of these episodes are bonkers and entertaining but a great place to start is Doglandia.

Sarah’s Pick: Little Stories Everywhere

Description: My youngest son’s favorite podcast ever, this is a collection of short stories and fables. I love that the pod features well known stories and original tales that cover acceptance, love, bravery, and more.

Episodes to Start With:

  • The Velveteen Rabbit: A classic and a tear jerker, the pod does such a great job of retelling this story of the rabbit who lived.

  • Game of Griffins: A riff on Game of Thrones, this is a story about a girl who gets stuck in her parents’ favorite TV show. It is my 8 year old’s favorite and he listens to this one on repeat.

Sarah’s Pick: Big Life Kids

Description: I love Big Life Kids journals and take away such great info from their growth-mindset focused parenting group on Facebook. The podcast features stories that encourage growth, courage, and mindfulness. My kiddos have loved this one for years. They don’t make new episodes anymore but its worth listening to the archives.

Episodes to Start With:

Educational Podcasts

Molly’s Pick: ReGen Brands

Description: Follow along with Anthony and Kyle as they speak with some of the most interesting (regenerative) brands out there. You’ll learn amazing facts about farming, challenges faced by sustainable food companies and hear stories from founders in all genres. If you ever wanted to learn about the sustainable food ecosystem, this is a great place to start.

Episodes to Start With:

  • Kyle Koehler @ Wildway: A cool brand and an interesting founder. Once you listen to the episode, you’ll also want to follow along with Kyle on LinkedIn – he has a lot of interesting insights to share.

  • Jacob Nuise @ Maui Nui Venison: I’ve been interested in this (always sold out) brand since I first learned about them years ago (I think maybe Peter Attia?). This deeper dive hooked me and the company’s approach to sourcing is unparalleled.

Molly’s Pick:

We’re Sarah and Molly

Sarah and Molly were bloggers many moons ago – back in the earlier 2000’s when blogging was all the rage and we spent the first 30 minutes of every work day (in the office we shared together) AIM’ing links back and forth to each other to catch up on all the tea. We launched The PR Edit in 2024. Less & More is the newest chapter in our blogging journey, focused on motherhood musings, shopping secrets, life lessons, and our usual chit chat.

We are so happy to have you on our corner of the Internet.
