Hi, Sarah here. It’s been a minute, huh?
2026 has overall been a great year but, woof, she has been BUSY, honey! It feels like eons since I wrote in this gorgeous little space and I have missed it. Every few weeks I would think, “I want to get back to the typing but there was running my PR consultancy to get to and 150 kid activities to chauffeur my gremlins to and volunteer gigs to manage and life things and work things and home renovations and mom things and thing things.

Proof of life photo. Sarah is here.
Anyway, all that to say I was running at a 100mph since about March and now I am trying to slow down for a minute or twelve. Spending the bulk of the year paddling like mad was burning me out and my life is so, so beautiful but it was so busy that I was getting all the gray hairs. Here are some ways I survived that (sometimes joyous but tiring!) grind despite being a self-employed, super busy mom who volunteers for multiple things and is an active member of the community.
- Let It Out: I am not one who can repress all my emotions and feel cute about it later. When I was looking at a calendar that was stacked with calls and activities and obligations and running around, sometimes it would make me feel like a weight was on my shoulders. So I vented, like a lot! Talk to your partner or bestie or therapist or a kind soul at the bus stop who wants to listen. Don’t hold that in.
- Learn to Say No: Repeat after me: boundaries are good for everyone and we no longer feel guilty saying no! Whether you are saying no to something fun with friends or delegating a task to a colleague, it is ok to pull back when you are especially crazed and need to make some room on your plate. Sometimes for me, the No was ultra hard because that meant not writing on Less & More even though I love it so much.
- Look Forward: In the month of October I literally had one single day where I didn’t have multiple things going on (and it happened to be my birthday) so on those SUPER crazy days or during weeks where I was drowning, I planned that chill day in my head. Call it crazy or a mental vacation, it helped me to have that restful light to look forward to!
- Little Moments: Look for that silver lining, bb! I learned how to reframe my thinking about certain situations years ago and I put that into practice whenever life is truly life-ing. It is so cool to be self-employed and I am so proud of what I have built. My kids are super active and engaged in the world round them and it is an honor to be part of that. I love that I have so many wonderful people in my life to support and celebrate.
With the year winding down, I am prioritizing this space and looking forward to the holidays. I have so many fun things planned, with some restful breaks built in too. So…how do you get back to YOU when life feels cuckoo busy?
Thanks for reading our work! We appreciate you so much. ❤
